During one’s coming-of-age ceremony, or anytime thereafter, individuals may choose to undergo the process of indokan, where they pledge themselves to the training of one of the seven Paragons. Once a Paragon is chosen, the individual goes through a bone marrow transplant, where the host cells are extracted from an ara’atan of the chosen Paragon. Following a successful surgery, they are deemed a Seraph and granted permissions to train and refine their abilities.
Post-indokan, Seraph must take Daraku booster shots intermittently, with the frequency between each dependent on both the time it has been since the surgery as well as the level of development the individual has achieved in their respective Paragon. This process also leaves a permanent scar on each individual, like a small tattoo.
